The card-not-present transactions settled via our own platform (which has won a number of awards) provide our experts with informative market data on purchasing and payment behaviour and the non-payment risk of consumers from Germany, the UK, the rest of Europe and countries outside Europe. In contrast to other, survey-based analyses, our studies draw a real-life picture of the current situation in e-commerce and e-retailing. In 2010, about 24 million transactions were evaluated and analysed with the help of well-established statistical procedures and in cooperation with a renowned market research institute. This research permits a comprehensive analysis of the current situation in e-commerce and e-retailing in Europe.
We differentiate between e-commerce – i.e. internet-based, non-cash trade with goods, services, rights and data – and pure e-retailing, which – as a part of overall e-commerce – covers only online trade with goods.
