E-Retail-Report 2010 – purchasing and payment behaviour in e-retailing

The E-Retail Report, which analyses purchasing and payment behaviour and non-payment risks in online retailing, was recently published for the fourth time in a row. In contrast to other research, the study by the Deutsche Bank subsidiary is based on real-life purchases and not on surveys.

That is what makes the Deutsche Card Services reports different from other e-commerce studies in general and online retail trade analyses in particular. The  study provides a real-life picture of developments in online retailing and gives merchants, consumers and researchers a unique overview over this market of the future.

It starts from about eight million selected transactions settled via the Deutsche Card Services platform. All data are fully anonymised and comply with all data-protection requirements.

By now, the Deutsche Card Services study has become a useful and reliable source of information for online retail trade. It complements the recently released “E-Commerce Report 2010”, which focuses on e-commerce as a whole (i.e. including the travel & entertainment, services and retail sectors), as opposed to an individual market segment. Online retailing is the most important and traditional sector in overall e-commerce. It is often the forerunner of developments in e-commerce as a whole, as the reports of the past few years have shown. Moreover, the sector shows both internet-specific characteristics and significant similarities to stationary trade.

The E-Retail-Report 2010 is available in the [Shop] for 250 euros plus VAT.
