  • Traditional payment methods play a relatively large role in e-retailing.
  • Two out of three purchases are paid for by credit card, Visa remains the top brand.
  • Credit card is the most important payment method. 
  • giropay has increased its share in the German market.
  • Average transaction values are lower when customers pay via direct debit and higher when the payment method giropay is used.
  • Average transaction values remain high when credit cards are used for payment.
  • If Visa was used, the transaction values were lower in general than one year before.
  • Credit cards in general are most often used for purchases worth EUR 10 – 100; Maestro is used comparatively often for purchases worth less than EUR 10.
